Welcome to the Center for Membrane Proteomics

Our Mission
Membrane proteomics includes more than the deciphering of membrane proteoms and high throughput analysis. Future studies will address the structural requirements for membrane protein lipid interactions, the structural and functional analysis of multiprotein complexes, and also - in a more cell biological context - the complex interaction between membrane proteins and proteins of the cytosol or the extracellular matrix. Our research centers around four main themes: signalling, transport, bioenergetics and compartmentalization.

The CMP creates a platform to strengthen the network between the various research groups in Frankfurt, to develop complementary resources and expertise, and to make Frankfurt an international interdisciplinary center of excellence. Interactions and collaborations with other Research Centers will overcome the fragmentation of resources within European research.

The CMP not only represents a platform for the generation of new knowledge. It dissipates this knowledge by training researchers and in particular by implementing new PhD programs and by intensifying the teaching of students in this highly promising field of protein research.

Close links with chemical and pharmaceutical industry transmit innovative work to pharmaceutical and medical application.
